Epic blog party

Look! A giveaway! And this giveaway has some really awesome prizes, so you'd do good to check it out.

If you had to choose between living on a desert island and a tropical rainforest the rest of your life, which would you choose? Normally, I would say the rainforest. But a couple weeks ago I saw a commercial on TV for one of those survivor shows, where the guy gets stuck in a rainforest a really long time and all these terrible, indescribible (sp?) things happen to him. Just the ad was gross. Then again, a desert island would be pretty hot...I'll take it anyways. The desert island. Because you don't know what else could be on the island, too. A ship, perhaps. (that was officially the longest answer ever, and I wouldn't be surprised if you stopped reading right now.)

What is your favorite music cd right now? Let It Snow Baby, Let It Reindeer by Relient K

If you were given the choice between wildflowers and roses, which would you pick? Roses.

How much do you like notebooks? Is it mild, or are you absolutely obsessed with them? It's actually somewhere in between. I own more notebooks than I could count, many of which I acquired a few years back. Hey, you know those incredible notebooks at some bookstores that have the signature of the artist or author on them? That's my kind of notebook!

{not my image}
I promise you, that isn't even the most gorgeous one.

What is your biggest goal this winter? Huh. I actually haven't thought about that. Perhaps get a lot of work done on Cymbeline and start my next novel. Also, I got a lot of huge (as in, "giant") pieces of paper from my art teacher, so it'd be nice to get a couple of posters done. Oh! I forgot! My family has a goal to read through the books of Isaiah and Luke in December. I want that to be my biggest goal.

If you could change your hair whichever you want, what would you do? I'd get rid of my sidebangs, which are a hassle, and I'd really love to have hair like Olivia's. But there are so many possibilities, it's a tough decision...

Do you think Harry Potter is bad? I don't, actually. I do think you can get obsessed over them, but as long as you keep things in perspective, I say they're okay to read. They're not as evil as some people would like to have you believe.

Why do you think pink is a girl's color? Awel Prince explained it. :) Other than that, maybe because boys like more generic colors? Or is that something new? I dunno.

Would you be up to singing a solo in front of a thousand people? NO. I cannot sing, unless it's with like a big group at church. Really, it's a talent, being able to miss all the notes going down and allll the notes going back up. My voice tends to waver like a wounded raccoon's.

What colors look best on you? Green, brown, pink, and light blue, in general.

If you had a different name, what would it be? Possibly Olivia.. (I'm not trying to copy the Olivia from Horsefeathers...I do happen to love that name, as well as it being the name of one of a good friend of mine.) Or many other things. Something light and flowy, such as the name Ellie (lol, another name of a friend, who happens to be Olivia's sister...guys, have I mentioned that I LOVE your names?!). Something sun-shiney.

Do you like...

boots or sneakers?
Boots.
flats or heels? I'm not gonna wear stilettos, but sometimes I like heels, if they won't break my feet. Both are cool with me. (as long as it's a small heel.)
Books or movies? --impossible to answer--
purple or pink? pink.
long or short hair? long.
a best friend or a group of friends? a best friend. You can have groups of friends and not have a single person in there that you're really close to.
ice cream or cake? probably ice cream. unless it's a total chocolate cake or something. then you got me.
plaid or polka dots? plaid. though i've been known to wear both. observe:

^ polka dots ^

^plaid.^

But overall, plaid. :)

Go on over and join! And have a lovely night!

Of Greek mythology, tickling, and fame

I received a tag from the lovely blogger Charming Elephant. If you haven't heard of her, I'd encourage you to go check out her blog and click the follow button; you'll be glad you did! :)

Now, I've been waiting to do this tag for a long time, but hadn't gotten tagged with it. But I finally did, and she asked some awesome questions.

1. Sweet or salty? Umm...you got me there! I love chocolate and Halloween candy (especially Reese's), but that can get old. I like both, but for now I'll go with sweet.

2. If you could be any Greek god/goddess, who would you be, and why? I would be totally be Apollo. Yes, Apollo is a guy, which is why I'll be a female version of him. Cause he's the god of the arts--words and writing (*sigh of happiness*), music (drifts into dreamland*), painting (*thinks of ships and rough seas in delight*) and healing, which is just downright awesome. Oh and he's also god of the sun, which I love ten, no one hundred times better than rain. He totally fits my personality. I should be his twin, not Artemis. His only failure is that he's not the god of the ocean, but I suppose I can't have it all. :P

3. Have any relation to someone "famous"? If not, who would you like to be kin too? Well, on my mom's side I'm related to King Henry the Eighth through Lady Jane Grey. My claim to fame.:) And...both my parents are published authors, so does that count? :)

4. What is your favorite subject? History. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE history. And I simply cannot stress that enough. Why do I love it? Uh...that's a subject for another post. :)

5. Are you ticklish? Unfortunately so :P

6. What is the longest you have ever slept in? I'm thinking eleven something. Once, my friend Olivia and I woke up at around 10:45 and then watched Merlin for almost an hour.:)

7. What is your favorite part of blogging? I've loved getting to meet girls with many of the same interests as me, making new friends, having writing buddies, all that good stuff. But my secret weakness is comments! :D

8. You wake up one morning and everything is PINK! What's your reaction? Haha, I would so freak out and assume that there was something terribly wrong with me and if I didn't get to a doctor soon, I would keel over on the spot! And yes, that is TOTALLY something I would think. I tend to worry a lot.

I'm supposed to make up eight questions of my own, buuut....I don't feel like it and these are good questions and I really should be writing now. So I tag Katelyn with the same questions. :)

(oh, and I'll do your tag too, Bleah, I promise. XD)

Random fact--I linked to four other bloggers in this one post alone. Wow.

Later, peeps!

8 Things I've learned this year:

1. Photography is actually quite fun!
2. I don't have to have met all of my friends:).
3. The writers of BBC Robin Hood are absolute geniueses--no questions asked.
4. Trying to be like the rest of the world is not what Jesus wants for me.
5. Sometimes, after you've been apart for a year, friendships grow even stronger.
6. That I shouldn't be envious of my friends' other friends. (a very difficult thing that I will probably always struggle with.)
7. I'm having trouble coming up with eight things.
8. It was better that I didn't win the writing contest I entered.

8 new recipes I want to try and make by the end of the year:

Nothing, cause I don't cook that often. What--Molly's mom's mini muffins. Pure delight.

8 Favorite online hangouts:

Polyvore
Yahoo
Shannon Hale's website
Goodreads or Shelfari, I guess, I really don't know...

Making flyers for my babysitting business. (Technically my sister's project, though, since she's the graphic designer...)
Cymbeline
Outlining my Nano book
Making a canopy for my bed

Homework from Poetry class
Writing
Writing a post for Phoenix Burning (me and Molly's writing blog.)

8 people I think should do this tag:

Autumn
Molly
Memzie
The Golden Eagle
Katelyn
Elizabeth Rose
Mirriam
Eldarwen

Well that was fun!:)

So, it's official--I'm doing Nanowrimo! I'm super excited cause I'm pretty sure I have an amazing idea for it:). I was starting to get worried...I was out of inspiration and had no clue whatsoever as what to write. However, at the library about a week ago I got out this book called "Lost Worlds" by John Howe (of LoTR artwork fame) all about missing worlds such as Atlantis, Troy, Camelot, etc. Wow. This book is stunning. Not as much artwork as I'd like, and maybe not as good as I thought it would be, but hey! This book gave me the inspiration for my book! So I recommend it.:)

If I give the names of my characters then I'll give away the plot, so I'm just going to post pictures.

John Dagliesh is the hero

Lucy Griffiths as the main girl (maybe...still not sure on this one.)

Steve Coogan as a supporting character. He's like the only one I'm really sure about.

I wish I could share the plot, I really do...it's just that that if I share it there's more risk of someone stealing it than usual, because of the kind of story it is.

Hope you're having a lovely day!

jäähyväiset!

Singing in the Rain blog party

To celebrate her 200th post, my lovely friend Guin is having a blog party! Click on the above banner to enter. (and there are some pretty awesome prizes from Inspire` Design Studio, Robin Blogs, and The Boutique Window!)

1. What has been your favorite part of summer so far?

Hmm...this summer flew by faster than summer ever has. I loved going to the ocean and getting to be with two of my best friends for eight whole days.:)

2. What is your favorite part of autumn?

It sounds silly, but I love being able to wear my skinny jeans and scarves and favorite sweater! (brown-striped, in fact, with a hood.) Also, *dun dun dun* volleyball starts again!!!

3. Raindrops on roses or whiskers on kittens?

You do like the impossible questions, don't you Guin dear? (jk:D) Hmm... raindrops on roses is very poetic and romantic, but kittens are the cutest thing on the face of the earth. (I'm a rather indecisive person, if you haven't noticed.)

4. Describe your dream house.

I have a million different tastes (part of me loves medievel castles and the other half loves bright and flashy cities) but right now...I'll go with the medievel castle on a cliff overlooking the sparkling caribbean blue ocean. Or the castle from the movie Leap Year. A celtic one covered in moss and vines at the top of a huge hill...haha I should stop.:)

5. What's your favorite movie?

Movie? Oh where to start! Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Little Dorrit, Mr. Bean's Holiday, Narnia, to name a few. :) It's actually quite easier for me to name my favorite book than my favorite movie. (The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, in case you were wondering.)

6. Quote from the book you most recently read:

Aphrodite had the beauty; Zeus had the thunderbolts. Everyone loved Aphrodite, but everyone listened to Zeus. --Nobody's Princess by Esther Friesner (looked up Goodreads since I'm too lazy to get up and go get the book for myself.)

7. What do you like/not like about my blog?

I love your design; I love that you write it; and I love the awesome little note-thingy on which you explained your blog party;). (oh, the things that amuse me...) I just kinda wish you'd post about life and not blogging whenever you post. :)

8. Rain or shine?

I'd almost always say shine. Rain depresses me.

9. The worst grammatical mistake, in your opinion:

When people put "mi" instead of "my." Seriously?! How is that cool? Probably not the worst by a long shot, but it bothers me. I'm a spelling freak and there are too many grammatical errors that bug me to list;).

10. If you had a choice, would you want to live: in the mountains, in a rainforest, on a prairie, or by the beach?

By the beach!

11. What character from a book would say you're most like?

Dasha from River Secrets by Shannon Hale, and maybe partially Peggy from The Sherwood Ring by Elizabeth Marie Pope. And some of Iulia from Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier.

12. Be constantly talking the rest of your life or not be able to communicate in any way the rest of you life?

Be talking for the rest of my life, because if I couldn't communicate in any way, I couldn't write or talk to my friends and family.

13. Owl City or Switchfoot?

Owl City! Sorry Shaynie!

14. Taylor Swift or Selena Gomez?

Taylor Swift. Favorite singer.:)

15. Your pet peeve?

Well, I know what it is, but I'm not going to say it. (and it has nothing to do with you;))

16. What's your favorite font?

Angelic War.

17. How are you educated?

Homeschooled and proud of it!

18. Do you consider yourself tomboyish or feminine?

Probably more feminine...although I don't dress up or put makeup on unless I'm going out somewhere. Heck, I can't even put make up on anymore, seeing as I lost my mascara and I'm too much of a tightwad to buy more.

19. What's your favorite song?

Pieces by Sum 41, His Love Can Never Fail by Matthew Smith

20. Did you enjoy answering these questions?

Well, I gotta say, there were kinda hard...but maybe that's just the indecisive side of me kicking in;)

Well, what are waiting for? Go link up!

By the way--Autumn over at An Autumn Day needs more people to enter her caption contest!!! I know she would love it if you entered.

HELLO WORLD!

'Ello, friends! I'm back. And because I'm suffering from lack of inspiration, I'm just gonna go random. Random is good, right?;)

First 0ff, I stole Eldarwen's tag.

1. What was the most embarrassing thing you've ever done in public?

Um, I don't know...?

2. Would you rather have a hot dog, or hamburger?

Hamburger. I no longer trust hotdogs. Because I do not know what is in them.

3. Do you like to sing?

Um, with a group, yes. On my own? No way. I have a horrible voice. I'll only sing if there is NOBODY else in the house.

4. What is currently your favorite song?

Aw geez! That's tough. I'll probably have to go with "Our Song" by Taylor Swift.

5. Have you ever eaten sea weed?

YES!!!! And I didn't like it:(

6. Do you play any sports? If so, what sports do you play?

You know I do! I play volleyball and am in love with the entire game. I can't wait till the start of the fall season. I hope to make the gold league (the highest level before college volleyball) next spring:).

7. Can you whistle?

You know I can.

8. What would you say is your best talent?

Probably...writing. I'm still extremely amateur at photography. Oh, and drawing. I just finished my Robin Hood poster, did you hear? I've got Robin in the middle and Marian next to him and Will above her and Much next to him and Allan below him and Djaq below him. It's soooo cool!!!!

9. Rain or shine?

Shine. Rain depresses me. (most of the time)

10. Inside or outside?

Outside, except when it's stinking hot or freezing cold.

I award anyone who hasn't done this:). Oh wait, I need to make up questions! Here I go:

1. What is your favorite quote from a book?

2. If you could live in any book, which wo
uld it be?

3. What are your favorite song lyrics?

4. Winter or summer?

5. Think fast: Paris or Rome?

6. Chocolate or lollipop?

7. Country or pop?

8. Think fast: Artemis Fowl or Percy Jackson?

9. Model or photographe
r?

10. Amusement park or water park?

Just cause I'm so awesome, I'm gonna answer them myself:).

1. Ani watched the fire turn the hearthstones gold. "Maybe I did. Maybe I hoped I'd return home someday and people would say, we were wrong about her. And they'd realize I'm special and beautiful and powerful and all that." --The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale (that's only one of many)

2. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan. Camp Half-blood sounds sooooo amazing!!!! Archery practice, rock walls with lava beneath, the fencing arena, and they have a VOLLEYBALL net!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. I tried to be perfect But nothing was worth it I don’t believe it makes me real I thought it’d be easy But no one believes me I meant all the things I said
--Pieces by Sum 41 (one of my favoriteist songs ever)
(again, only one of many)

4. SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. Don't make think like that!!! Who made up these stupid questions? Oh, right...I did. BOTH.

6. Chocolate. I don't like lollipops. (kudos to whoever gets that quote first. Golden Eagle...)

7. Pop. Country can drive me crazy, most of the time.

8. OOOOHHHH!!!!!!!! Why did I do this to myself????!!!!! Well...I'm gonna have to go with Percy Jackson. Sorry, Artemis. You know I love you too.

9. I like to be both!

10. Water park!!! I can go on almost anything there, but not so at amusement parks.

There you are!

Second order of business.

Merlin and Arthur

This ^ ^ could very well become one of my new favorite tv shows. (though not over Robin Hood...never.) It's called Merlin and it's also put out by the BBC. Isn't that amazing? I love BBC. They're epic. I blame Molly and Maxine. See, I got them started on RH, and they get me started on Merlin. I love the main character:). And Arthur, even though he's a jerk.

Third order of business.

Shaynie awarded me! Thank you Shaynie!

The rules:
I have to tell you where I see myself in 10 years and award a few people
.

Wow. Ten years from now. I hope to have at least two books published and be a New York Times Best-selling author. Lofty, huh? I'm gonna go for it. Perhaps I'll be married. But I don't want to get married too young, and I don't want to think about children yet;). (i love kids, though, just so there's no confusion.) Part of me wants to have traveled the world, but the other of me is a big home-body.

I award:

Melody
Olive Tree
Memzie
Katelyn
________________________________________________________________

Besides our wonderful United States (or the country you live in), what other countries do you like? Not just the countries you want to visit, but places that interest, intrigue, and inspire you. (i like that combination of words...) Mine are:

Russia. About a year ago I went through a huge Russian phase and had to read all things Romanav-era (1917). This time period and family fascinated me.

Spain. Spain also happens to be a big influence on my book, Cymbeline. The passion, the vibrancy, the color, the pirates, and especially in the 1700's. Adventure is calling.

Turkey. This stems, again, from Robin Hood. One of my favorite characters, Djaq, is a Saracen (from Turkey). After some time, I mastered her awesome accent (it's fun to do) and just the whole culture of this country fascinates me. The desert, the clothing, the styles, the "look"...

Portugal. This is similiar to Spain--I first became interested when I started writing Cymbeline. Plus, it's not a place you hear a lot about.

How about you?

I love this avatar.

Yeah, it was random, but that's me. Randomness!

Oh dear! And a tag. :)

I realized that I forgot one of the books I read this year! So here it is.

Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt-- 3 to 4 stars. This is what I would classify as a "beautiful book." Natalie is an amazing writer, and she has some of the best prose I have ever seen. Each word seems to be very carefully picked. However, I felt that the characters did not reach their full potential, and were a bit simple. The issues raised within in the story were really good ones to think about, and I'm really happy with where the story ended. This is one of the few books where I actually liked the movie version better. Recommended!

And on to the second part of this post-- a tag! This tag has been going around a lot lately, so I thought I'd do it. You're supposed to name eight books you'd like to live in (for a week, which seems a little long to me) and then tag eight people. here goes!

1. Narnia
2. Rest-and-be-Thankful (The Sherwood Ring)
3. Ingridan, Tira (River Secrets)
4. The Shire
5. Rivendell
6. Firemoon (from my book Enslaved)
7. Camp Half-Blood (Percy jackson)
8. Pemberley (Pride and Prejudice)

I now tag Paige, Molly, Olivia Grace, Amber, Rachel Danielle, Melody, Morgan, and Caroline! Also anyone who just thinks this looks like fun!

On a random note, tomorrow is my birthday!!!!♥♥♥

Farewell, maidens and warriors!
