Bravo! (my sister's post)

some of you mentioned not getting a chance to read Paige's lovely post...so, here you go. just keep in mind that i did not write this. haha. hopefully this'll tide you over if i find myself not posting for a few days. :)
____________________________________________________________________

First of all, hello my lovely lovely people. It's hard to believe that you all actually follow me on a daily basis as if I'm this wonder woman or something. Let me tell you, I am. I am all that and more. Because wouldn't you know it, I have a long and interesting story to go with that. One day...

I was taking a walk in the park, carrying my dog Otis on my head (he always liked a good view). The view was lovely, the wind was carrying pink umbrellas, and the birds were pooping. Altogether it was an enormously fantastic normal day in LaLa Land. Otis started bouncing up and down excitedly on my head like a moose who really needs a restroom. I set him down on the grass and turned away as he joyfully bounded off in the direction of a nice brown tree.
Turning away, I spotted someone in a dark and hooded trenchcoat. He seemed mysterious and slightly diabolical, so naturally I was intrigued. I squished through the mud until I got back onto the cobblestone path and hurried after him.

Okay, so it turned out to be a she.

But how was I to know?

"She" was a skinny, orange haired person who sported a variety of longbows. She said her name was Christine the Mean and that carrots are not welcome.

"... my name is, uh, Caroline," I said at a loss for words. I felt so let down next to someone who had an awesome nickname. I shuffled my feet in the grass and tried to think of something to say.
"Ya know, vegetables aren't..."

"Do you want superpowers?"

WHAT THE HECK.
I didn't say that but I'm pretty sure I looked like the mirror image of the large mouthed bass I pulled from the pond a while back. A dead large mouth bass at that.

"Sure!" was the first thing that flew to mind. I laughed. Boy, had I stepped in it now.
Before I knew it, I was swimming in the sea of happy unicorns and mushrooms. It was a joy filled place of happiness... and blue goo... I was swimming upwards in blue goo...

"Snap out of it!" Christine the Mean was standing above me. Otis was peering down into my face, apparently arrived back from his business trip. All I saw was a halo of orange hair and big, wrinkly jowls. Obviously the latter were Otis'. I looked down at myself and felt my arm. It was smooth! It was... it was... SPANDEX!

I was covered in Spandex. How glorious. But my moment of triumph quickly diminished from there. Christine the Mean shoved a finger in my chest.

"Remember, pal," she said, looking pretty darn serious, "Spandex is a priviledge, NOT a right." I grew pale. Did it look that bad on me? I supposed not since I had a right to wear it.

"Is there anything else you require, earthling?"

"Umm..." I was thinking of one of my childhood dreams. "Can I... can I have a beard of my very own?"

"Nooo," was Christine the Mean's slow reply. I began to break down in tears. Now it would never come true. Christine the Mean continued. "Otis asked first. Sorry, Caroline."

I paused and looked down at my wrinkly Boston Terrier. Indeed, there it was. A pointed beard. ON A DOG!

Life isn't fair.

Christine the Mean had disappeared in a puff of plaid smoke. Without even telling me what my superpowers were!

TO BE CONTINUED.
FYI, this story takes place in a dismal place called LaLa Land.
Otis and Me are real people.
So is Christine the Mean.
She lives in a virtual place that has to do with Saltwater.
I, Caroline, am also a very awesome dork.

Oh dear.

I swear none of you lovely peeps are ever going to take me seriously again.

Did you see it? Did you see the post in question? It was up on my blog since last night. That was when I found out about it, and took it down. What happened, you ask? Was I hacked? Was some creeper idiot person diabolically attempting to ruin everything I've become in the blogging world?

And the answer would be yes.

I know who did it.

my.... *dun dun dun*...sister.

See that? That nice, innocent little smile that belongs to a nice, innocent young lady? DON'T BELIEVE A WORD OF IT!

That very same sweet looking person attacked my poor helpless Blogger account last night, while I was away baby-sitting, and wrote a post about me turning into a Spandex-wearing superhero. Oh, it was funny. But now I know that nobody here is ever going to believe me again. You'll always be wondering, "Is this her diabolical sister, hacking into her account once more?"

All I can do, my good people, is swear completely truthfully that this IS Caroline. You know what I sound like.

I hope.

Anyways, it's me, I promise:). Now, for payback, I should go hack her Facebook. Haha, the beauty of sweet revenge!

Robin Hood and dancing

Whew! What a weekend I've had! On Friday night I had a volleyball practice (i've got another one tonight), and on Saturday morning me and Paige and my mom drove to Virginia. My uncles from Texas and London and my nana were all there at my aunt's house, and we had chinese food and then played Capture the Flag. Paige and Lorna and I were all on the same team, and our moms and uncles were the other team. They were not strategists.:)

Then, on Sunday, we went back to our old church-- Crossroads-- and I got to see all my old/new friends. it was awesome:). Beth played offertory on her violin and sounded amazing! As we were getting ready to go, Lorna filched the infamous purple flashlight from the youth leader's car. We named it Pidgeon. Long story. Me and Paige and Lorna and Michael played frisbee for... a long time, while the moms talked.

That evening, Gail, Beth, Emily, and Claire came over for a sleepover! Gail tried to teach me a waltz, sadly I was not the best student:). Oh Paige and Claire made up their own dance that was awesome!! Lorna and Beth were definitely the best at dancing:). We made ice cream sundaes with brownies that were heavenly. Then all of us went on a walk in the rain at like 11:00! It was so cool! When we came back, we got ready to go to bed. Me and Beth wanted to talk so went down to the basement and talked for three hours!!! We were up until four o'clock! We talked about our books, writing, Shannon Hale, characters, Razo and Finn from BoB... it was SO worth losing the extra sleep:)

The next morning, me and Paige and Lorna and Gail went on a walk, and when we came back we had a photo shoot. After all the girls left (sniff) we went to our nana's and played frisbee and had pizza and watched ROBIN HOOD!!! Omigoodness, it was awesome. Lorna is now hooked. We are devoted hoodies!

Wow, what a long post. So that was my weekend! My next mission: convince Ellie and Olivia's dad to let them come out this summer!♥ Also, to get all of my friends to move to Raleigh. YESSS. I can always dream, can't I?

There's a zombie in the backseat!!!

Haha, Paige sent me this hilarious PJ graphic:

It's by *SnowyBubbles at Deviantart.com, here is the link: http://snowybubbles.deviantart.com/art/There-s-A-Zombie-in-Back-Seat-152762464. LOVE IT!!!!! I saw the movie! It was good, but I have to say, the book is better. They left out a lot of stuff and just pretty much condensed the whole movie. SIGH. But it was still good! I'm up for seeing it again:).

Au revoir, mon amie!

What happened to the heroes?

Last night, Paige and I were talking about how, in books, what has happened to the heroes? The main guy characters who are like the knights in shining armor, the ones who don't get made fun of (that seems to happen a lot in TV shows), and the ones who make a difference. That makes me think of characters like Dick Grahame from The Sherwood Ring and Geoffrey from A Murder For Her Majesty. It seems to me there's a lot of books being written that are just sugar. If they were a kind of candy, they'd be a pixie stix. They taste good, but they have no substance.

In my books (i hope!) I try to create strong male and female characters. I don't want the girls to be nasty, too stubborn, and controlling, but I want them to have spirit. My guys shouldn't be cowards, made out to be stupid, and basically just punching bags for the girls. That isn't to say that the girls can't be stubborn; or that the guys aren't nervous going into battle, because that's what makes them human-- and I think another reason that the heroes don't seem to be heroes anymore is because they're becoming way too un-human. Isn't that what we love about our favorite book characters? Their weaknesses. Their downfalls. After all, a perfect book hero is an uninteresting book heroes. They become interesting when they become human; that's who I hope I created with Julian in one of my books, Cymbeline. He's vain; he's stubborn; but he's also brave and selfless and would put his own life in danger to save Finna. Do I understand what I mean? I think we're losing the real heroes to guys like Edward in Twilight.

I was just listening to The Saltwater Room by Owl City. I love his songs; a lot of them are romantic, but they're really sweet, not angsty. Maybe that's another point I'm trying to prove:). Sometimes it's nice to have clean love songs, without worrying about what they're going to say next.

I'm going to compile a list of the heroes I think are the most real-- the ones have weaknesses, strengths, who are really human and therefore more lovable.

Finn, Razo, and Geric from the Books of Bayern by Shannon Hale
Dick Grahame, Pat Thorn, and Peaceable Sherwood from the Sherwood Ring by Elizabeth Marie Pope
Jacob Grimm from The Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley
Percy Jackson from Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
Artemis Fowl from... guess where... Artemis Fowl! by Eoin Colfer
Geoffrey and Orlando from A Murder for Her Majesty by Beth Hilgartner
Sheftu from Mara, Daughter of the Nile by Eloise Jarvis Mcgraw
Johnny Tremain from Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes
This one is for Paige-- Gen from the Attolia books by Megan Whalen Turner
Howl Pendragon from Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

I'm sure there's a few I'm missing... but that's all I got for now. Have fun, keep writing, and make those characters real!
