Savvy?

Bonjour my friends! I regret to say, I am leaving now. This is the end. Good-bye.

HA! Gotcha! I'm not leaving forever (well, not yet, anyways. That is a possibility.) My cousin Lorna is coming in...holy fudgemuffins, 2 and a half hours. She'll be here until Monday so I, too, will not be here blogging till Monday. Or later. I dunno.

Partially, I want to be able to spend time with my cousin who lives five hours away without thinking about Blogger constantly. I love you all, but sometimes you just need a break, ya know?

The other half is, I am soooo addicted to blogging. Far be it from me that blogging would come in front of Jesus Christ. (sorry, i have been waiting to say the beginning of that sentence:D) And yet, it has. Time and time again. I try to ignore it. I try to push it aside and say, "Well, that's okay, I'll take a break next week... I'm not that obsessed." Suuurrre.

Someday I might leave Blogger for good. It takes up SO much time and mindspace. I blog when I should be writing. It takes up everything.

I have 49 followers right now...who would care to even that out? Step up now and I might show lenience. Hehe. Guy of Gisborne quote, couldn't resistXD. Anyways, let's make it a nice even number, or even above a nice even number, by Monday!

Another note. The next post, I have a little contest planned for you...nope, nothing big, and no prizes. Just something fun and hopefully a bit difficult too!

Alrightey. That said, I will see you, my friends, on Monday. Adios! Kaikkea hyvää! Arrivederci! Auf Wiedersehen! Au revoir! さようなら! Sbohem! Adeus! Farvel! Αντίο! La revedere!

Or better yet, tootles!

edit: Please pray for Mirriam's sister Melanie and Hannah's brother Sam. You can read Mirriam's post here and Hannah's here.

Daddy...

Dear Daddy... Happy Father's Day to the best dad I could ever have. God knew what he was doing when he made me your daughter. I couldn't ask for better, and I would never want anyone else in your special place.

Dear Daddy... I wonder where it is that I get my sense of humor? I love laughing with you and making you laugh. I love quoting lines from our favorite movies. I love it when you say something and I can follow up with something straight out of Napolean Dynamite.

Dear Daddy... I love being different. How many other girls get to watch Formula 1 with their daddies on Sunday afternoons? I love that we can watch it together and have a grand 'ol time of it. I never would have become interested in car racing if it hadn't been for you. And how many other girls knew their Marvel comic characters? Thanks to you, I do.

Dear Daddy... We're both writers. We may write very different things but this is just another thing that we share. Putting words on a page, stringing together a perfect sentence, we both love doing that and we understand each other. When we sat and edited and Enslaved together, I loved that. Having an editor for a dad is simply spectacular (most of the time:P).

Dear Daddy... I love when you practice volleyball with me in the background. I always want to play my best and hit the ball as much as I can when I practice with you. You make me want to do my best.

Dear Daddy... You and my (fantastic, awesome, amazing) mom raised me in an evironment where I was taught to love and follow God, the Creator and author of Life. My savior. My faith is the most important thing to me, and growing up in a household that loved and loves God launched that. You two are my biggest heroes.

Dear Daddy... Have I mentioned that I love you?

Robin Hood and dancing

Whew! What a weekend I've had! On Friday night I had a volleyball practice (i've got another one tonight), and on Saturday morning me and Paige and my mom drove to Virginia. My uncles from Texas and London and my nana were all there at my aunt's house, and we had chinese food and then played Capture the Flag. Paige and Lorna and I were all on the same team, and our moms and uncles were the other team. They were not strategists.:)

Then, on Sunday, we went back to our old church-- Crossroads-- and I got to see all my old/new friends. it was awesome:). Beth played offertory on her violin and sounded amazing! As we were getting ready to go, Lorna filched the infamous purple flashlight from the youth leader's car. We named it Pidgeon. Long story. Me and Paige and Lorna and Michael played frisbee for... a long time, while the moms talked.

That evening, Gail, Beth, Emily, and Claire came over for a sleepover! Gail tried to teach me a waltz, sadly I was not the best student:). Oh Paige and Claire made up their own dance that was awesome!! Lorna and Beth were definitely the best at dancing:). We made ice cream sundaes with brownies that were heavenly. Then all of us went on a walk in the rain at like 11:00! It was so cool! When we came back, we got ready to go to bed. Me and Beth wanted to talk so went down to the basement and talked for three hours!!! We were up until four o'clock! We talked about our books, writing, Shannon Hale, characters, Razo and Finn from BoB... it was SO worth losing the extra sleep:)

The next morning, me and Paige and Lorna and Gail went on a walk, and when we came back we had a photo shoot. After all the girls left (sniff) we went to our nana's and played frisbee and had pizza and watched ROBIN HOOD!!! Omigoodness, it was awesome. Lorna is now hooked. We are devoted hoodies!

Wow, what a long post. So that was my weekend! My next mission: convince Ellie and Olivia's dad to let them come out this summer!♥ Also, to get all of my friends to move to Raleigh. YESSS. I can always dream, can't I?

My cousin is sitting on my lap

From the title, you've probably made a logical guess as to what this post is about. It ain't so easy to type with an 11 year old on my lap!! We have been having a crazy time!!! We watched the Wizard of Oz, went on a fishing trip (not really, we went down to the creek with sticksxD), and are going to have a sleep over in the family room tonight. Yay!!!!!!!!!

My book is finished!!!

OH.
MY.
GOSH.

I finished my novel Enslaved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was about two nights ago at 10:00 PM after writing for like 2 hours (i'm estimating:). I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S FINISHED!!!!!!!! I know since I haven't posted in a long time (this is the first post of 2010!) I have some things to tell y'all 'bout, but I'll start with this. Oh, first, here's a list of my next few things to blog about, so stayed tuned!
1. Percy Jackson
2. My review of Star Trek
3. Pictures from Christmas and with Molly
4. A complete writing update on all of my stories
5. An update on my favorite music and books

Contents of this post:
1. Statistics of Enslaved
2. An Enslaved timeline
3. A thank you to everyone who helped me with it
4. My dream cast for Enslaved
5. The contest!
6. The characters
7. Molly's blog!

Take a look at the statistics for Enslaved!
Final page count with pictures: 133 (in print form)
No pictures, smaller text: 106 (print form)
Book layout with pictures: 280
Book layout with no pictures: 215
Final word count: 51,119 words!

An Enslaved timeline... or, Enslaved through the years...
2006 (i think)-- Caroline is making up stories. Finds postcards with pictures of fairies on them; wants to use those fairies in a story.
I'm guessing summer 2006-- plucks a character from another story of hers and sticks that character (Lorelei) into a story with the fairies.
Still probably 2006-- comes up with more characters, such as(in order): Quarlyn, Torene, Will, and Quinne.
Still spring/summer-- actually has somewhat of a plot! No, you say! Really! Plot: People from all over the country Lorelei rules are disappearing! Oh no! She gives on an adventure with her friends (Mirleye, Halwin, Greenall, Quarlyn, Torene) to try to find them!
Same time-- story changes dramatically from pre-writing to beginning writing in the infamous pink notebook! All of you who were there at the beginning remember this notebook, I'm sure.
Same time AGAIN!-- WRITES. WRITES. AND WRITES AGAIN. Already has screaming fans. Well, at least one (i'm talking about you, Gail:D). Consequently, Caroline finds out that her cousin (Lorna) is also writing a book! Hence, from here on out they become the writing cousins.
Summer of 2007-- LOSES THE NOTEBOOK! *cries hysterically*. Thinks she left at the horse farm; not there. Oh no! What will she do? Goes to the library-- she left it there!!! YAY-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Begins writing once more.
Fall of 2007-- Runs out of room in the pink notebook; continues in the Chococat notebook.
November 2007-- Finishes it!!!
April 2008-- Moves to Iowa. Is surprised at the SPACE and the SKY after living in Northern VA where space is virtually non-existent! Pines for friends in Virginia; then meets new friends Caroline S., Stephanie, and Alaina! Yay! Begins second draft of Enslaved. On the computer. Starts playing volleyballl; becomes addicted to it.
Sometime that year-- finishes the second draft. Meets Olivia and Ellie!
March 2009-- moves to The Outer Banks, NC. Misses friends in Iowa (still does!!!) and Virginia. Wishes she were in either place-- anywhere except the OBX. Swims in the ocean a lot. Meets Julianna; is less lonely now! Goes to Virginia THREE times over the summer. Olivia and Ellie come to visit! Caroline is extremely happy about that but very much wants to move. Wants Stephanie to come visit her!!! (next year, Steph? Pretty please?XD) Begins THIRD AND FINAL draft of Enslaved in April! The story changes HUGELY, departing almost completely from the original plot. Characters get face lifts, which were desperately needed. Olivia reads the story, then Ellie! In Virginia, Caroline meets her writing mentor, Betty, for the first time! Starts another book, Cymbeline.
During the writing of the third draft-- mourns at how awful the first two drafts are.
October 2009-- MOVES AGAIN. Scratch that; moves while she has pneumonia! (it was walking pneumonia, which isn't as bad.) Takes little notice of her new house (still in NC) for a few days. Caroline gets better and meets Molly, her next door neighbor! Very happy now! Reaches 200 pages! Is thrilled to hysteria.
November 09-- Screams, cries, pulls hair out, and seriously debates throwing the computer out the window. Hates Enslaved for a little while. Has HUGE plot difficulties and has no idea where the story is going.
Around the same time-- revises to the point of breaking!
January 2010-- Somewhere along the way manages to pull together the sad remains of Enslaved. The last night before the finish, she figures it all out! Caroline is practically crying with happiness. She's off in happy book-dom. Stephanie reads Enslaved! Caroline finds out about a contest, The Amazon Novel Breakthrough Award for fiction! The winner of the grand prize receives a publishing contract with Penguin and 15,000 dollar advance. She decides it's a no-brainer, and makes it her goal to reach 50,000 words in Enslaved, which she has to have to enter the contest.
January 21, 2010-- gets up at 6:00 AM because she knows she's on the final stretch. Talks to Julianna on the phone and says she'll finish the story tonight!
Around 10-10:30 PM, January 21, 2010-- Reaches 50,000 words for the contest! And then, Caroline... FINISHES THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's the LONG Enslaved timeline for you! There'll be more of it to come, what with the contest! And now, since this is a special post for Enslaved, I'm going to thank people who helped me with the book!

My friends who read the book, loved it (I hope), reviewed it, and told me what was wrong with it: Lorna (cousin), Gail, Bethlehem, Ellie, Olivia, Stephanie, Claire, Gracie (cousin), Madison, and Casey
My Nana Kitty, for always reading her crazy's granddaughter's stories with zeal!
My writing mentor, Betty, for giving me advice, writing tips, and sending me all this awesome writing news!
My sister, Paige, for making the cover for Enslaved! It's awesome! And for writing her Enslaved mini-series, Lorelei and the Nun-chucks! Ask me about it, and I'll email it to you!
My parents, for always believing I was a good writer, and for raising me to love books! That's where it all began! And also for buying the computer. But most of all, for raising me to love Jesus!
My grandma and grandpa, because you make me laugh!! I love you!
My other friends, Molly, Emily, Emilie, Alaina, Abbey, Alice, Christina, Sarah, and Grace, and Caylee, for being my friends! That's a pretty good reason! lol:)
Owl City, Taylor Swift, Enya, Bryan Adams, Klaus Badelt, TheHeartRender from youtube.com, Sanctus Real, Carrie Underwood, Matt Willis, Yellowcard, and Harry Gregson Williams for giving me inspirational music to write by!
Shannon Hale, Rick Riordan, Elizabeth Marie Pope, Michael Buckley, Juliet Marillier, Eoin Colfer, and Beth Hilgartner for writing the novels that inspired me to want to write like them... thank you for your words.
But above all, I thank Jesus, for taking away all my sin, and for giving me the love of books and writing... I can't do it without you.

If there's someone I've forgotten, I'm sorry, but thank you for taking an interest in my writing and God bless all of you!

I thought I'd share my dream cast for Enslaved-- hey, a girl can dream, right?XD
Will--Ben Barnes
Torene-- Alexandra Daddario
Merien-- Taylor Swift
Quinne-- Chris Pine
Lorelei-- Miranda Otto
Dominik-- Jake Abel
Helena-- Romola Garai
Quinne Sr.-- Bernard Hill

About the contest... I found a contest a few days ago called 'The Amazon Novel Breakthrough Award.' Check it out-- http://www.amazon.com/b?node=332264011. It's for novels only, and for anyone 13 or older. There's two divisions, General Fiction and Young Adult Fiction. There's a grand prize for both categories-- a 3-5 night trip to The Venue (i'm guessing that's New York), A CONTRACT with PENGUIN, and a 15,000 dollar advance! What's up! My dad is reading/editing the story for me (he's a professional editor) and I have to submit it by Feb.7th. So i finished it just in time!

AWESOME day!!

Hey! I had a GREAT day today! First of all, my mom and I left around 11:30 and went to the library, where I proceeded to get seven or eight books eight-- the usual:). Then we headed on to 'The Shoppes on Main' which was a collection of stores in one building in Fuquay. Yeah, that's the name of my town-- Fuquay-Varina. Actually it's two towns combined, so there's two downtowns:D. Anyways, at one lady's used clothing store, my mom found a smallish bulletin board covered with a vintage-like cloth that says that "Rome, Paris, London, and Madrid" and each place has a famous landmark from there. It's hard to explain, but maybe I'll someday be able to get a pic of it. There wasn't a price on it, so I asked the lady, who was Spanish, and she said 3$! I think she liked me (she was pretty funny!). After that we went to an antique store. Now, let me just say that antiquing is not my idea of fun... no thank you:). But this store was different-- they had a ton of vintage, shabby chic stuff, just my style. I found some amazing pieces for my room that will definitely be on my Christmas list. In the way back of the store I found a pair of shoes. They're black, low-heeled, with gold stitching and silver sequins on the front. Sounds cheesy, I know, but they're BEAUTIFUL... and they were only four bucks! Can't beat that with a stick! We went to a coffee shop in Varina next, The Chocolate Bean. I got a Raspberry Mocha and a seasame seed bagel (I was starved!). They were great! Oh, in the coffee shop that a machine where you could create your own pixie stix! I didn't do it, but I bet I will sometime:). We went grocery shopping and then came home, at about 3:00. A few minutes we went back out again, this time with Paige and my dad, to a gorgeous park 20 minutes away. There's tons of woods and an AMAZING, huge blue lake in the center. It was stunning. And they have a volleyball pit! Need I say more? We had a blast, of course. Now it's 6:40 and I am hungrily waiting for pizza and a movie. Yay! And at 9:00, one of my fav tv shows is on, Monk. Only three more episodes of the series left!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
But, anyhow, it was a wonderful day!

FINALLY

We are finally in our new house! We moved in last Thursday. (no, not the most recent one, the one before that) I had the flu most of the time:(. But now I'm better and trying to unpack! It goes slowly. It's about 65 here, which is amazing! Last year at this time it was probably freezing! Of course, that was Iowa and this is North Carolina:).
Trying to write, as well, but that also goes slowly. I'm kind of stuck with both Cymbeline and Enslaved. I WANT to write, but sometimes I just can't. *SNIFF*
Here are some pics:

My mom and Otis last March

Me, Lorna, and Paige last July (2008) when Lorna came to Iowa. I can't believe that was over a year ago!!!

Paige and I as a two-headed monster (last year again, 2008)

Paige downloads all her photos now on the Mac, and I'm on the PC, so these are all older:). Have a great day!!
